ABOUT THE GUIDE
Dr. Imran Bin Tajudeen is Senior Lecturer at the Department of Malay Studies and Department of Architecture, National University of Singapore (NUS). He is a scholar specialising in Southeast Asian architectural history, with a focus on Islamic architecture, urbanism, and cultural heritage. His research explores the intersections of traditional and modern forms, regionalism, and identity in architectural design. Dr. Imran’s work highlights the cultural and historical significance of built environments, particularly mosques, and their relationship with local communities. He is widely recognised for his contributions to understanding the social and historical dimensions of architecture in Southeast Asia.
Dr. Imran is also a founding member of Docomomo SG and is volunteering his time for this tour. Fees collected go towards helping Docomomo SG’s administration costs as a Company with Limited Guarantee (CLG) and its documentation, education, and advocacy efforts.
