Docomomo Singapore Official Launch Event

On Wednesday 13 October 2021, we organised an official launch event of Docomomo Singapore chapter (or DocomomoSG) at The Projector X: Riverside Point.

For the occasion, we have an introduction by DocomomoSG chairperson Ho Weng Hin on the mission, past activities and future plan of the group. That was followed by a presentation Modernism: From the Heroic to the Everyday from Dr. Jiat-Hwee Chang, DocomomoSG exco member and Associate Professor at the Department of Architecture, NUS. The presentation provided a brief overview of the group’s documentation of modernist architecture. The scrip and slides of the presentation can be found here.

We ended the launch with the screening of a short film Stop Architectural Deforestation. The film was produced by Jonathan Yee Chenxin, Freda Yu Bing Jie, and Ge Luyao. You can view the film Stop Architecture Deforestation and read more about it here.

Docomomo is run by volunteers and it depends on donations and sponsorships from the public. If you wish to support our activities, please consider donating to us or buying an item from our online store. The funds raised will be used for the group’s future activities to promote the conservation of modernist architecture in Singapore.
